It’s Tuesday, So The Padres Must Have Made A Trade

You will be stunned to learn that the San Diego Padres made a trade today.
A.J. Preller, San Diego general manager and vice president of doing things, pulled off his 407th trade of the offseason (editors: this is not accurate), sending outfielder Seth Smith to Seattle for pitcher Brandon Maurer.

Smith, 32, is an eight-year MLB veteran, having played for the Rockies, A’s and one year for the Padres. In 2014, he put up a .266/.367/.440 line in 136 games, while hitting 12 home runs.
Maurer, 24, split the year between Triple A and the Mariners. He’s appeared in 60 games (starting 21) over the last two seasons, striking out seven batters per nine innings and K/BB ratio of 2.72. His Big Unit ratio is 0.665.
