The Washington Post says the acronym “TOOTBLAN” – invented by Ball Eight’s proprietor – is the No. 8 sports phrase in our nation’s capital this year:

It stands for Thrown Out On The Bases Like A Nincompoop. It’s fun to say and tweet, unless it’s about a Nationals player, such as Bryce Harper, who gets TOOTBLAN’d a lot.

No. 1 was “No means no!”
