Social Media: MLB Belatedly Entering 21st Century

Baseball has had a slowly developing and sometimes fitful relationship with social and alternative media. Among the biggest shortfalls was making its content unsharable on social media channels in a timely manner.

They have improved on this front, finally coming to the realization that there are countless active and motivated fans looking to promote Major League Baseball – and more than willing to use MLB’s prepackaged content to do so.

Hopefully, MLB’s Social Media Awards it rolled out Sunday are a sign of more to come. They even made everything embeddable (actually, embeddable via MLB means it takes you to their site when you click, but whatever)!
